Bahrain: Commercial Center Ordered by High Commercial Court to Pay Food Supplier Over BD26,000

The High Commercial Court has ruled in favour of a food supply company, ordering a commercial center to pay over BD26,000 for goods received in 2022.

The center had denied the invoices without providing proof of payment.

The court also granted legal interest at a rate of 4% per year from December 2022 until full payment, and ordered the center to pay the costs of the lawsuit.

The case involved a food supply company that had contracted with the commercial center in 2022 to provide a quantity of food items.

The supplier delivered the required materials, but the center did not pay the BD26,685.094 owed.

The supplier then filed a lawsuit demanding payment.

The supplier’s lawyer presented copies of the food supply invoices, bearing the stamp and signature of the center’s employees, as evidence of delivery.

However, the center denied the authenticity of the invoices and the signatures.

The court then referred the case to an investigation.

The court heard from two witnesses for the supplier, while the center did not present any witnesses.

The court found the testimonies of the witnesses to be credible, confirming that the supplier had delivered the food items to the center based on purchase orders issued between April and August 2022.
